Ozwald Boateng - A Man's Story →
This designer of fine cut tailored suits has opened his own store on the famous Savile Row in London at the age of 23! This documentary film is showing 12 years of his life with all ups and downs and how he rose to the top. Ozwald was honoured with a title in the Order of the British Empire. If that is not enough reason to check out this film, I don’t know what is!

Bendable Paper by LG
Imagine a electronic paper that is just like a normal paper and can change text or layout. Some companies have been busy developing such things, but LG Electronics has announced that they will start mass producing. The screen is 6 inches and is bendable to 40 degrees. The paper has a resolution of 1025x768 and is only 0,7 mm thick. A true interactive digital newspaper.
The paper is using a...

I have mentioned the Savage Rivale before, and now they uploaded a video of their roof mechanism. The concept is still under development, and is designed and build in association with Inalfa Roof Systems. This piece of art is full of tech and the roof is awesome!

Leap: What We Learned After Getting Our First... →
leapforit:
We launched Leap on February 29th (Leap Day). It was a perfect fit considering this day comes around once every four years. A week before our launch, Apple emailed us and said that there was a good chance that they were going to feature our app in the New and Noteworthy Section - awesome! There…

Internet Cars
Car manufacturers are experimenting with technology nowadays. Mini for example has the iPhone or iPod Touch integrated in the HiFi system. Apple has been talking to the car manufacturing industry, so the rumour goes. TomTom, the navigation software specialist has made deals to be pre-installed in cars from, I believe, Renault. But does your car need to be connected, or do you need to connect tot...

WWW and the platforms
One of the great things of the World Wide Web is the opportunity to connect to everyone all over the world. Imagine you are a student (maybe a while back, but try) and you have the opportunity to go on exchange and experience the partying, travelling and the culture. Besides the studying you need a place to sleep and relax. When you start looking for a room you usually get some info from the...
Digithoughts: Ultrabooks need to be cheaper. Or... →
digithoughts:
I welcome that Windows notebook vendors are focusing more on nice, mobile friendly designs, but it seems as if the first generation Ultrabooks are facing the same problem as premium Android tablet vendors. It’s hard to compete with substandard products at the same price as the market…

Where did my battery go?
The power level of your mobile phone drains faster than it did on the old ‘dumb’ phone. Your new smartphone uses more services and features and so need more energy. But has the mobile battery industry kept up with the mobile phone industry or is it lagging behind?
The smartphone industry has boomed since the iPhone was introduced in 2007. A lot more has been asked of it since then....

Processor Power
Not everybody understands the linkage between the processor and the operating system. For example, a laptop with 2 GHz and 2GB RAM running OS X could be/is faster than a laptop with 2,8 GHz and 8GB RAM running Windows. Why? Because the operating system houses a power management part which distributes the processing power available.
Why do I bring this up? I saw a video review of the new...

Why the TV can evolve with Apple
I own a TV, a modern one with a flat panel. On there I can watch movies and shows from my USB drive. On more expensive models you can use a variety of services nowadays, ranging from YouTube or NetFlix to Picasa. It all works fine when you know how to use it, but it still is time consuming, frustrating at some points and just doesn’t seem to fit all together.
There comes Apple into play. As...

I'll never read rumours again!
Well, probably I will. I’m too interested in the newest technologies that I can’t leave rumours alone. The problem with rumours is, however, that you never know how trustworthy one is. We have seen the rumour hype grow bigger and bigger as we approached the launch of the newest iPhone. Some said it would be the iPhone 5, some said the 4S, others said both. It turned out to be the 4S....

A Glance at the future
and its good. Suppose you go home and your mobile phone, which is then even more than just a smartphone, registers that you are going home, and turns on the central heating, because it knows its cold outside. The Central heating then measures the temperature, and heats it to the pre-set temperature on your device. When you are at your front door, the phone will turn on the lights inside the house...

The cons of tech savyness...
There are many products on the market right now that are really good. Just as good as when they came on the market. Of course, there are newer products just released, with better specifications or performance. But still, we as tech lovers are waiting for that next product to come out and buy it. When we know when that will happen, we don’t want the ‘old’ product anymore, no...

Gaming back in the days...is about to get even...
Back in the days when you needed a PC to play a game that was stored on a floppy disk… Wow.. that is a long time ago and I’m not even that old! Gaming on the PC has gone through a rough period, first the Xbox, Playstation and Nintendo violence, and now the mobile gaming scene is being the bad-ass. What do the above mentioned platforms have in common? No, they are consolidated...
Mass individualism
Individual products used to be just for you, tailored to your needs. Just the way you liked it. You paid a premium for it, but it was worth it, you had something nobody else had. The products were made by small companies or shops, it was too difficult for big companies to tailor products to the mass and still earn good money.
Today the world has changed and we can buy individual products from...

How Apple sells all year round iPhones
Apple has a track record of introducing a new iPhone in July, except for this year. As usual, the secrecy around the new product is tight, all that we can do is guess. Most of the guesses say that Apple will introduce a new iPhone 4s/5 in September. But without a new phone right now, consumers still buy the ‘old’ iPhone 4.
In a research from ComScore among 30.000 US mobile plan...

On a lighter note: Joss Stone
I had the pleasure of seeing Joss Stone live in Paradiso in Amsterdam on monday. In one word… AMAZING! She has such a good voice, and she’s funny too! Her stories in between the songs were funny and she mixed around the playlist to fit the ambiance in the room. She even went accapella with Spoiled because the band didn’t know the song. If you ever have the chance to see her live,...

Why Microsoft needs to kick its own tail
Microsoft told us, back in October 2010 that the Zune application (iTunes for Microsoft) will be headed to the Mac. But, today, we are still stuck with the Windows Phone Connector which isn’t that good. The main reason I bought a Windows Phone 7 when it released was the promise of the software coming to the Mac, but when it failed to deliver in February I traded my phone for Android. Also...

Password Frenzy
How many passwords do you use? Do you use a different one for every account you own? Do you have just a few spread across those accounts? Or do you have one master password for a locker which contains all those passwords?
There are several solutions like those, e.g. 1Password. But the thing is, wouldn’t it be much easier if we had just one log-in? There are sites that work with a Facebook...

Bluetooth 4.0
Bluetooth, a very useful technology. Though its not getting most attention, and that’s about to change. Apple recently introduced Bluetooth 4.0 in the new Macbook Air & Mini. This version is developed by the Dutchmen Jaap Haartsen. It’s faster, less power-consuming, which makes it a real alternative to NFC.
Near-Field-Communication (NFC) is a technology which we encounter in...

Every Start is a first
Whenever you start doing something, it can be the first time you do it, or the first time that day, the first time you do it alone. What I mean to say is that with everything you start doing, make sure to finish it, no matter what the conditions. Starting something is only worth it when you finish it.
After these wise words I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Rick and I just love...
